Common Windows Issues in U-Rite

This article outlines the most common Windows errors and provides clear steps to resolve them so you can get back to underwriting quickly.

Error: Specified Argument Was Out of the Range of Valid Values

Error Message

Specified Argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: entryValue

Cause

This issue is commonly related to a corrupted ClickOnce cache, which can occur after updates or interrupted installations.

Solution: Clear the ClickOnce Cache

  1. Close all open applications and windows.

  2. Click the Start button.

  3. Search for and open: %localappdata%\apps

  4. Locate the folder named 2.0.

  5. (Optional but recommended) Create a backup of the 2.0 folder.

  6. Delete the 2.0 folder.

This action clears the ClickOnce cache. After completing these steps, reopen Excel and try launching U-Rite again.

Error: The Group or Resource Is Not in the Correct State

Error Message `The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007139F)

at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(...) at Microsoft.Web.WebView2.Core.CoreWebView2Environment.CreateCoreWebView2ControllerAsync(...) at Microsoft.Web.WebView2.WinForms.WebView2.InitCoreWebView2Async(...) at URite.V7.Views.ReactTaskPane.InitializeWebEnv(...)`

Cause

This error is typically caused by a corrupted or missing Microsoft WebView2 installation, which U-Rite uses to render the application task pane.

Solution: Reset Edge WebView2 and Reinstall U-Rite

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Search for Run and open it.

  3. Enter regedit and click OK.

  4. Navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\Clients

  5. Delete all entries inside the Clients folder.

  6. Close the Registry Editor.

  7. Reinstall U-Rite.

During reinstallation, you should be prompted to install Microsoft WebView2. Allow this installation to complete, then retry opening U-Rite in Excel.
