Anchor Tenant

A tenant that is considered to have high demand from consumers, often found in the retail sector. An anchor tenant attracts other offices/shops to open nearby their location in hopes of increasing the foot traffic to their locations. Leases for buildings nearby anchor tenants are often higher than comparable spaces elsewhere and are contingent on the anchor tenant staying in their location.
